Addicted to my Online Detective!

I have a confession to make. Recently, I have become addicted to my online detective searches. It started off innocently enough. I wanted to do a simple search to find an old friend of mine. He was a high school friend – actually my best friend from ninth grade. We were practically inseparable all the way through the end of high school, but we had scarcely talked since then.

He'd moved away a few years ago, and I was quite curious to find out where he was. I tried to do a phone number search, but it appeared that his number was unlisted. Even doing a Google search for him yielded no results. I figured that the online detective was the only way to go.

Before doing the search, I had a moment of trepidation. I could not decide if it was moral or not. It seemed that if my friend wanted to be found, he would have given me his address and other contact information. I almost felt like I was intruding on his privacy. Nevertheless, I wanted to see him quite badly. He had never been a particularly private person, and I had no reason to believe that he was hiding out to avoid me.

It was actually pretty easy to find him. Within a matter of hours, the online detective's search turned up his name, his address, his phone number, and his personal credit score. I had no need to see the latter, and felt guilty for accidentally doing a personal credit report on my best friend. I called him up, and he was actually quite pleased to hear from me. We made plans to hang out, and got together for drinks the very next week!

The problem was that once I tried using my online detective properly I was hooked. It did not end with my friend. Soon, I was looking up old acquaintances who I was not even close to. I have even done some searches for missing persons, curious to find out if it yields anything. It never does, but it is always fun to think about what would happen if I could find someone who has been missing using a simple Internet search program. I recommend you get your own online detective and join in the fun. You never know what you may discover!
